LIDAN SKARV FOR SONAR HANDLING
SKARV – THE DESIGN PROCESS
With inspiration from the Skarv (Swedish for Cormorant bird), and from the market’s need for safe sonar handling, our engineers designed a new product for efficient launch and recovery of side scan sonars.
What are the most important design criteria for this product?
1.Safety of the personnel
2.Safety of the sonar product
3.Affordability
4.Light weight and modular
5.Easy to use
6.USV ready
THE NEW SKARV PRODUCTS
We proudly present our new product range for side scan sonars. Lidan Skarv products are a new evolution of Launch and Recovery Systems. Today the Skarv is available in 3 sizes, with a tow capacity from 3 kN up to 20 kN.
Designed for launching a side scan sonar from deck down through the splash zone, and for towing the side scan sonar.
Distinctive features of the Skarv products:
– Easy installation – without special vessel modifications,
– Safety for personnel and sonar
– USV ready

Anti-Submarine Warfare
Lidan Marine design team has over the years developed design techniques for delivering light weight, shock proof and non-magnetic material designs. Combined with the latest in electronics and controls, Lidan can offer safe local operator interface as well as remote operation for unmanned vessels.
Mission Module
Handling Systems
The modern multi purpose combat ship is designed to be agile for a wide range of missions and equipment. For utilizing the onboard space as efficient as possible, the process how to move the mission modules is equally important.
Lidan Marine have developed a Mission Module Handling System (MMHS), with low weight, compact design and minimum deck loads as major design criteria.
The MMHS is used for loading and unloading, as well as rearranging the modules onboard the ship. One system performing several operations. Customers saves not only weight and space but just as important reduced handling time is achieved.
Property of SAAB/Kockums.
THE VISBY CLASS CORVETTE
The Visby-class corvettes from Saab continues to set the world benchmark for littoral fighting ships. It is a flexible surface combatant, designed for a wide range of roles.
Lidan Marine has developed and delivered electric and hydraulic naval handling system for Mine Counter Measures (MCM) and Anti Submarine Warfare (ASW) equipment.
By using high tensile material and optimized construction via FEM-calculations, low weight designs are achieved. Chock from mine-explosion is reduced by structure with no requirement for dampers giving significant weight reduction. Winch design with direct driven hydraulic motor reduces structural noise.

ACTIVE HEAVE
COMPENSATION
Controlling the relative motion between floating objects has always been a challenge in naval and offshore applications. For many of us the jump ashore from ship is easy when distance is short and sea is calm. But what about teaching a machine to make the move at an indefinite distance in a storm? To conquer this challenge of motion control requires mastering the technologies for passive as well as active compensation.
